Something is afoot here! 

Welcome back my very ghoulish friends.  I am your Master Crypt Keeper, Michelle. I am along here with my good pal and Master Crypt Keeper, Dex, to keep everything here...well...spooky!

The official Countdown to Halloween crypt is now open. I know, I know, usually we open August 1st but we had to clear out a few cobwebs and allow for some redecorating. 

A new boil in town, but not new to the Halloween scene, has graced us with some new looks. This year we welcome, Chad Savage who has created the new banner and badges for this year's theme.  Our theme this year is "Old School Halloween" and we let him run with it. What do you think? Make sure to click on his name and go look around his blog. Just an FYI, he is the one that Dex mentioned last year for the cool calendar.

So let's get on to the stuff.

Badges: As always, you are welcome to pick up a web-covered badge to decorate your own crypt with. We know you love them, but make sure it links back to the Countdown. If you for some reason don't know how to do that, just ask.

Official begin: Well of course, October 1st for the Countdown but we all know that some of you go all year long. PLEASE link back to our blog when you post. It is a nice thing to do and newbies may want to join.

Commenting: What makes the Countdown fun is visiting others and commenting. It is the spirit of the thing. You want those treats just as others do. Go and visit others crypts.

Links: They will be posted starting today (see right side bar). You can sign up through October 3rd and after that the link list will be shut off. However, I am nice and if you have a good enough treat, I might reconsider if you still want in. *chuckles* PLEASE be patient though, if you don't see your link by October 1st, email me at nailamoon1968 at gmail dot com and I will see what is up. I do add links on my own time and this year, I am in college again...talk about clearing out cobwebs...sheesh....

Following: You can subscribe or just come back periodically to the Countdown from now until we close again. We often have fun posts and/or new information you need to know.  Links for that is also on the right sidebar. ALSO, if you want to organize just to 2022, our hashtag is #CountdowntoHalloween2022

You can also find us on our Instagram Link all year long. Go and check that out because sometimes, you might see your own stuff there. Dex does a great job of keeping that alternate crypt going. THANKS FOR ALL YOU DO DUDE!

New stuff: Last year we kicked around having the Official Countdown to Halloween t-shirts. Well, guess what...we are working on making that happening! Whoo... Stayed tuned for more information on that. We might have some other merch too to purchase.

Questions for me or Dex: If you have a questions or comments to make about any particular post, put it in the comment section for the post. DON'T EMAIL IT WILL GET LOST. I do monitor and will answer each post that is made. Note: you will not see it right away but I do get them. For integrity of our crypt here, I do approve/disprove each comment as often we get simply spam and who wants that?

Hello my fellow Creepers!

Is Halloween over? Well, technically,, yes but I know many of you celebrate 365 so carry on. Otherwise, the countdown has started over until 2022!

I am popping in today to let you know about The 13 Days of Creepmas. I went over to see if there was a badge for those of you that indulge a little more but did not find one. However, if you are interested, here is some info. (below)

 I think Dex is in charge of this one along with The Great Pumpkin Cult. I have included some information here along with the link. Enjoy a little longer! ;)

PLEASE...

I have asked for everyone to check their links to make sure they are working. A HUGE shout out to Raven who noted that about a half dozen went nowhere. I fixed them all but...boo....

I have also added some new links that have just come in. Make sure to check those out if you have time. Also go by to other people and give them a treat (aka: Hello, Happy Halloween etc).  Again, that is what makes all of this fun. 

Remember, if anyone you know wants to sign up, tomorrow Oct 3rd is it. If  you have not done so, I suggest to subscribe to our blog too. :)

Final thought...I noted that some folks have not put our badge(s) anywhere on their blog or Instagram. We love for you to come and link up here but as a courtesy please add at least one badge somewhere as it links back to us for our hard work too. It is also your badge of honor so to speak. Are You Ready???? Some Announcements #CountdowntoHalloween2021 #Cryptkeepers

Here we are! This is the week!!!! YES!!!! Are you all ready to rock Halloween like nobodies business?

I have been snooping around and seeing all sorts of post for Halloween already. For some of us, it is a lifestyle, others favorite holiday, and some of us just like to dress up and throw candy around for the month. 

Whatever the reason, Friday starts our countdown and we (that is Dex and Me) are ready for you!

Now, for a little housekeeping/announcements....

1. This past month has been incredibly trying for me. I cannot begin to tell you the skeletons that popped out of the closet this month! Needless to say, that made me very behind on getting the most recent blogs up on the list. I appreciate your patience in this matter. The good news is, I got them all up to date as of moments ago.

2. Speaking of which, the cutoff date for signing up is Sunday. This is NOT a Halloween joke! I will not be able to do anymore after that date. Tell your friends to hurry.

3. Dex and I will be around to your blogs or Instagram sometime this month. There are tons of blogs and such so it will take us all month long to get to you but don't worry. We do expect treats and no tricks.

4. Now, having said the above, Dex will be gone until the 6th (?) of October. He is visiting the neighborhood witches no doubt. *chuckles*

5. I will be on a much needed mini vacation from the 5th-14th. I am going to go spook a house but I will be around as much as possible during that time. I have been preposting my blogs and they are to die for. lol

6. You are welcome to leave either of us a comment but just note it may not be answered right away.

7. PLEASE CHECK TO SEE If YOUR LINKS ARE WORKING. If they are not, leave a comment here and I will fix right away. Do not wait. I don't know if you don't tell me.

10. On or just after Halloween, we will be posting a survey. Attached to it will be a giveaway of our choosing. Please fill that out because it will help us prepare for next year.

Finally, I just want to first thank Dex for stepping up and helping me this year. He is a ghoul among ghouls! He has been keeping up with our new Instagram too and some of it has been a hoot!

I also want to thank Senor Scary for the wonderful badges this year. He really took them up a notch.

Cryptkeeping Update and Impatience (lol) #CountdowntoHalloweenblog2021 2021list

Hey Crypsters,

A few updates. But before I get to that...

We are finally moving into September...giddy! It seems like it is taking October FOREVER to get here. However, get here it will eventually.

I don't know about you but I have been (impatiently) waiting for the stores to get the Fall/Halloween decor  in. I went to a well-known craft store the other day and they HAD tons of stuff. I say HAD because what they did have was sold...gone...the shelves were seriously empty!

I then went to the bulls eye store and they had not even put up one pumpkin yet. No bats, no webs, not even candy! What the heck? The shelves were bare but not in a good way. Come on! Let's get with it people!

As I said, impatient!

So, as for our blog here and getting ready, you all are incredible! We have so far got 56 sign ups. Keep sharing and telling folks about us. Let people know that almost anything goes here as long as it is Halloween related. Don't forget to mention Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube are all accepted this year as well.

Having said that, there are a couple of people who signed up their Twitter or Facebook. We appreciate you doing Halloween there too but we will not put you on the countdown with just those. So, if you don't see you there for that, this is why! ok?

I have a few people that I need some help from. I hate to call you out but maybe you will see yourself.

HEY SPOOKS-NEWS FOR 2021 #CountdowntoHalloween2021

Hello fellow Spooks!

Just a quick blog for you.

We have a change this year in hosts. Mike Meyer is not going to be able to do Master Crypt-keeping duties and may not even be able to post this year. I certainly hope he will. Thanks, Mike for all your help! 

In any case, Ed Dexter, otherwise known as Dex, has agreed to fill the role. As August is right around the corner, (unbelievable) Dex will be emailing all of those who participated last year. (um, he may not know that yet...oops) Anyway, you will get emailed.

We will be asking if anyone wants to make new badges and banner. We will choose by end of August. We will also be asking a couple other questions to get a feel for things.  Stay tuned!

If you know of anyone that wants to sign up, we will be sending a link out soon.

We are only 5 days away to the big day we have been waiting for! I am excited, how about you?

The Countdown is on...New this year!

Hello Boils and Ghouls,

Since covid-19 keeps everything at bay, we have to wonder how Halloween will fair. That is a good question for sure. However, as years before, we are going to celebrate all month long no matter what!
We are determined to kick that dang virus right to the curb as we take our skeletons and cobwebs out of the closet. Let's pet our black cats, decorate our windows, light the pumpkins, and eat ourselves silly with candy corn until we just can't do it anymore. Let's get our spook on, shall we?

As you may or may not know, our beloved head spook, John, decided to retire last year. We are confident he has not completely put his broomstick away but he has handed over the reigns. That is where we come in. This year the blog site will be handled by me, Michelle aka Naila Moon, and by Michael May. We both have been participants in the countdown every year and are eager for this year as the new Master Cryptkeepers.

NOT TO SCARE YOU BUT THERE WILL BE A FEW CHANGES...

Sign up: As in past years we will be sending out an invite via email to past participants but signing up will be different. For management puposes, we will be having you sign up on a Google form. It will be easy and not too frightening. In the past we have signed up via email, we just think with numbers of participants, that is too much to handle. We will only be asking you for your name, blog, and email. We will keep that in our archives. We won't sell your names or anything like those Halloween pranks. It will be safe. PLEASE NOTE: If you sign up via comments you will not be put on the list.

Theme: As usual, there will be a theme. As we are sure you have already noticed some changes to the blog, it has given hint to the theme. *cues skeletons to rattle their bones* This years theme is...
"Gothic Halloween". You may choose to use this theme for the whole month of October or you can choose to go another way. Hey, we're flexible.

Badges: What would our fun be without badges!? We will have the badges up by the end of August. Please be patient with us on this. I know all of us love those badges but the mice this year are working on overtime to get them done. Some gal named Cinderalla has been bugging them for a dress. We will get them to you, we promise!

This blog and yours: Our thoughts right now are to have this site as it is meant to be, a blog. Therefore, this year, we will be attempting to have a daily check in here. Now, since we both have blogs too, it may be a disaster but we are going to try it anyway. We are playing with the idea of maybe having a month long giveaway too. Right now, we are not for sure but stay tuned for that.

The other part of this is your blogs. We know in the past with the numbers of ghouls and boils that it has been near to impossible to get around to everyone. We have decided to split up all of you frightful people and visit for tricks. Be on the look out for our visit, we might want a treat. *cackles*
We encourage you to visit as many people as you can and leave those comments. It isn't candy but we still love them.

Well, we suppose that is all for now. Check back often because the countdown has begun and you never know who is lurking around.
